Forum Mission Statement
The primary goal of these forums is objective and intelligent discussion of their respective topics, so as to foster creativity, innovation, and at the very least, learning. We wish to create a forum community that prides itself on thoughtful and useful discussion with statements backed up by fact or well argued opinion (as opposed to opinion based on, or driven by, angst, hearsay, ignorance, individualism, politics, propaganda, resentment, zealotry, and similar entities).
While there exist several useful forums on the Internet for general discussion on topics apparently similar to what we intend to cover, this is an attempt to focus only on purely technical and strategic aspects. We do not wish to create another forum of a kind that already exists. In particular, we do not intend to provide yet another battleground for technology holy warriors. One way to describe the goal of these forums would be "zero-zealotry, high SNR." For example, a legimitate question that would be appropriate in an operating systems course (that is, in an academic setting) would be welcome in these forums.
While we welcome people of all skill levels and backgrounds into discussions, we are particularly looking for high-quality non-mundane content. Please be sure to read the "Rules" section. Note that besides overall rules, each forum may have an additional, specific set of rules and guidelines.
