Forum Mission Statement
The primary goal of these forums is objective and intelligent discussion of their respective topics, so as to foster creativity, innovation, and at the very least, learning. We wish to create a forum community that prides itself on thoughtful and useful discussion with statements backed up by fact or well argued opinion (as opposed to opinion based on, or driven by, angst, hearsay, ignorance, individualism, politics, propaganda, resentment, zealotry, and similar entities).
While there exist several useful forums on the Internet for general discussion on topics apparently similar to what we intend to cover, this is an attempt to focus only on purely technical and strategic aspects. We do not wish to create another forum of a kind that already exists. In particular, we do not intend to provide yet another battleground for technology holy warriors. One way to describe the goal of these forums would be "zero-zealotry, high SNR." For example, a legimitate question that would be appropriate in an operating systems course (that is, in an academic setting) would be welcome in these forums.
While we welcome people of all skill levels and backgrounds into discussions, we are particularly looking for high-quality non-mundane content. Please be sure to read the "Rules" section. Note that besides overall rules, each forum may have an additional, specific set of rules and guidelines.
Terms of Forum Use
You must read and agree to these terms before you register for, post on, or read these forums.
Your Liability
While the administrators and moderators of these forums will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every piece of material. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts that you make to these forums express your own views and opinions and not of the administrator(s), moderator(s), and webmaster(s) of these forums, nor of the owner of osxbook.com, hereafter collectively referred to as "the Management." Thus, the Managment will not be held liable for your actions. In particular, the Management does not take any responsibility whatsoever for the contents or accuracy of any postings on these forums.
Appropriate Use
You agree not to post any material that is abusive, false, hateful, obscene, sexually-oriented, slanderous, threatening, vulgar, or any other material that may violate any applicable laws, including copyright laws. We hereafter refer to such material collectively as "disallowed material." You agree that if you post any disallowed material, you, and you alone, are fully responsible for it. You also agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Management with respect to any claims based upon your posts. Posting any disallowed material may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned from forums, and your network service provider being notified.
You will not use the forums to aid in breaking the law, for example (but not limited to), you will not post software license keys or any information on circumventing copy protection.
You will not use the forums solely for the purpose of promoting your own commercial interests.
Privacy
The IP address of all posts may be recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the Management has the right to remove, edit, move, or close any topic at any time should they see fit. As a user you agree to any information that you provide (during registration or otherwise) being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, the Management reserves the right to reveal any identifying information about you in the event of legal action arising out of the content of your posting(s). However, the Management will not be held responsible for any hacking attempts that may lead to such information being compromised.

Forum Rules and Guidelines
- "Terms of Use" must be agreed to and followed.
- The moderators have final say and will exercise control at their discretion.
- The focus of these forums is intelligent, objective (uninfluenced by emotion or personal prejudice) discussion of their respective topics. No off-topic posting, trolling, or spamming will be tolerated. Do not post if you have irrevocably "made up your mind" about something, are not open to objective discussion, and only want to thrust your personal agenda upon others.
- Treat others with respect. Personal attacks will be considered as a serious offense, and will be dealt with as such.
- Only start discussions on meaningful and useful topics, and refrain from posting "questions" whose "answer" could be found via a quick Internet search. Stay on-topic. Do not draw others or be drawn away from the topic.
- Be helpful, and only post if you feel that you are contributing to the discussion.
- Overly foul or distasteful language or pornographic materials will not be tolerated. This is subject to the whims of the moderators or complaints by other users.
- Do not act as a moderator (unless you are one!). Please inform the moderators of problematic posts rather than attempting to reprimand other users for "poor postings."
- Link to content (legally, if allowed) rather than reproducing it. Do not inline large images or otherwise hog system resources.
- Users may have at most one account each.
Violation of the above rules is subject to banishment.
